Barley produced under contract for malting and brewing applications is typically subject to specifications (e. g. maximum protein content, percentage of plump seeds, etc.).  Barley produced for food ingredient applications is also subject to buyer specifications.  The publications section of this web site provides general specifications for barley utilization in malting and human food applications.  The specifications are provided as a guideline in understanding general purchasing requirements.
