Administration

Steven Edwardson serves as the Executive Administrator for the North Dakota Barley Council. Steve has extensive experience in market development, promotion, international relations, research, and administration. Steve earned a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Mechanization from the Department of Agricultural Engineering at North Dakota State University. He has a balanced foundation of skills in agricultural economics, processing technology, and crop and soil science. Prior to accepting the position with the Council, Steve worked in crop insurance development for Watts and Associates in Billings, Montana.

Market Development

The North Dakota Barley Council directors work closely with the Executive Administrator in market development efforts. Council directors take an active role in developing markets for barley in malting, human food, and livestock applications. Alliances with the U.S. Grains Council, universities, and barley suppliers collectively assist in a balanced market development program at the Council.

Livestock Management

The Council recognizes the importance of barley utilization in beef, dairy, swine, and poultry. In addition to the collective efforts of the Council directors and staff, the Council works to build alliances with livestock professionals in the public and private sector, thus providing livestock producers with solid technical assistance in ration development.
